Twenty second international online seminar "Artificial Societies and Information Technologies"
On 17.11.2023, a meeting of the international online seminar "Artificial Societies and Information Technologies" was held, dedicated to the report of Hang Xiong (President of Asian Social Simulation Association (ASSA), professor of Economics at College of Economics and Management, Huazhong Agricultural University, China).
Presentation topic: An Agent-based Approach to the Ex-Ante Evaluation of Public Policies
Brief abstract:
Ex-ante evaluation is critical for the formulation of public policies. Agent-based modelling is a powerful way of implementing ex-ante evaluation of policies by considering interdependencies at the micro-level. It thus can capture the possible consequences that are ignored by modelling approaches only dealing with macro-level variables such as computable general equilibrium (CGE) models and integrated assessment models (IAMs). In this study, we discuss the key challenge of using agent-based modelling to evaluation of public policies. We also present a model to evaluate the implementation effect of the carbon emission reduction promotion policy based on the individual decision-making behavior of farmers.
